An open letter to all our Mariner Society Members

I’ll be hosting this Mariner Society cruise in 2009 that I wanted to make sure you were aware of as you develop your own travel plans. This cruise is traditionally filled with Mariners,® so I’m sure we’ll have a wonderful time getting to know one another as we enjoy all the sights and activities on this exciting itineraries.

We don’t often visit Southeast Asia so I’m also looking forward to the ms Volendam’s 12-Day Southeast Asia Explorer voyage from Hong Kong to Singapore departing November 9. In addition to port calls in Manila, Phu My (Ho Chi Minh City) and an overnight in Bangkok, we’ll have the chance to visit Sanya, Hainan – a maiden port of call this year for Holland America. This relatively undiscovered tropical destination has a completely different landscape than the other provinces of China with it’s white sandy beaches, azure sea and some of the most beautiful scenery in the world.

This cruise will include bridge experts — always a favorite with Mariners — as well as special guest speakers, a guest chef and possibly some exclusive shore excursions. There will also be some great values on back-to-back cruises including a few following the Southeast Asia Explorer that can take you through the Great Barrier Reef or the previous 14-day roundtrip Hong Kong that includes an overnight and two days in fascinating Shanghai. And of course I’ll be hosting special celebrations for Mariners, and giving talks on Holland America Line’s past and plans for the future along the way.
