April 25 | Tel Aviv | CME Lecture: 7:45 AM - 12:00 PM Afternoon tour will include Old Jaffa, with a walk through the narrow streets. UNESCO has declared Tel Aviv a World Heritage Site for its treasure of Bauhaus Architecture. We walk through the "White City" and along Rotchild Boulevard, visit one of the Art Galleries, visit Tel Aviv Port and visit the Independence Hall. Dinner will be served at the Renaissance Hotel, Tel Aviv. |
April 26 | Galilee | Head up the Mediterranean coast today, stopping first at Caesarea National Park to see the remains of the former Roman capital, including the ancient theater and hippodrome. Walk the seaside promenade to the renovated port area within the Crusader walls. See the Caesarea Experience, a fascinating computerized presentation of the city's history and best-known historical figures. The beautiful arched remains of the Roman aqueduct are right on the beach, so you can dip your feet in the Mediterranean before leaving the area. Then, it's on to Haifa, Israel's third largest city, to see the magnificent Bahai Shrine and Gardens, the world center for the Baha'i faith. Visit also the Megiddo National Park before continuing to the Magdala Hotel by the Sea of Galilee for dinner and overnight. |
April 27 | Galilee | Today we visit the famous sites around the Sea of Galilee, including Tiberias, a historical resort town on the Sea of Galilee (Lake Kinneret) and one of Israel's four holy cities, the Mount of Beatitudes, traditional site of Jesus' Sermon on the Mount. We head north to the Hula Valley, at the Hula Nature Reserve you'll enjoy the lovely walking trails over the last remnant of this protected wetland, and the special lookout points where you can observe the avian wildlife. Visit to a Kibbutz. We shall have a guided tour including explanation about the most up to date agricultural technologies, and how it is to live in a kibbutz. |
April 28 | Dead Sea | Today after breakfast we drive south through the Jordan Valley. Your first stop is at Beit Shean extensive archeological site. Continue further south to the Dead Sea. Enjoy a relaxing float in the healthful waters of the Dead Sea, the lowest, saltiest body of water on earth and visit the Ahava cosmetic factory with products made from the minerals of the Dead Sea. Enjoy a Camel ride and experience the Hebrew Hospitality in Abraham's Tent before we drive up through the Judean Hills to Jerusalem. Check into the Crowne Plaza Hotel for dinner and overnight. |
April 29 | Jerusalem | CME Lecture : 7:45 AM - 12:00 PM Today's tour will start at noon with a drive up to the Mount of Olives, where we will have a magnificent view over the City of Jerusalem ; old & new. We will enter the Old City Walls and walk along the Via Dolorosa to the Western Wall, the most holy place to the Jewish people. Continue to the Christian Quarter, which sprung up over the centuries around the historic ancient Church of the Holy Sepulchre, where the Roman Catholic, Greek Orthodox, Armenian, Coptic, Ethiopian, and Syrian Orthodox orders all maintain their own sections and can be identified by their distinctive dress and liturgy. We will enjoy some time in the Old City for shopping before we return to the hotel for dinner and overnight. |
April 30 | Jerusalem | CME Lecture : 7:45 AM - 12:00 PM Drive through the New City viewing old and new neighborhoods, the Knesset (The Israeli Parliament) (open for visits on Sundays and Thursdays) and the beautifully designed Supreme Court building. At the nearby Israel Museum, among many other fascinating exhibits you can discover the mysteries of the Dead Sea Scrolls at the Shrine of the Book and see the 1:50 scale Model of Jerusalem from Second Temple times. From here we will drive to Herodion, located east of Bethlehem, on the edge of the Judean Desert. This is one of the most fascinating antiquities sites in the country. It was built by King Herod the Great between 23-15 BC, as a combined palace and powerful fortress. We continue to Bethlehem, the royal city of David, where Jesus was born (Luke 2). We'll visit the Church of Nativity and the Field of the Shepherds. Here we will also visit an Olive Wood Factory and Store before we drive back to the Crowne Plaza Hotel. This evening we will enjoy dinner out at the Notre Dame Rooftop Restaurant. |
