Faculty

Arthur Andrews, MD, FCCP

Associate Professor College of Medicine , Department of Internal Medicine at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine in Tampa Florida.

Dr. Andrews attended Medical School at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey - Robert Wood Johnson where he received his degree in Medicine in 1995. He completed an Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine in Jacksonville Florida. Dr. Andrews, completed Fellowship training in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine in Rochester Minnesota. He completed 2 years of research in the areas of cigarette smoke extract and its effects on epithelial cells and also idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.
Dr. Andrews joined the staff at the University of South Florida subsequent to Fellowship training. He is Board certified in Pulmonary Medicine, Critical Care Medicine and Sleep Medicine. He has an outpatient clinic in Pulmonary Medicine, Sleep Medicine and a lung nodule clinic and also actc as Attending in the inpatient arena for Pulmonary Consultation Service and Critical Care service several months of the year and Bronchoscopy service several months per year. His current interests include interstitial lung diseases, bronchoscopy and sleep medicine. Bronchoscopy is currently his primary interest particularly the use of endo-bronchial ultrasound (EBUS) in the diagnosis and staging of lung cancer and other malignancies as well as sarcoidosis. Publications are in the areas of COPD and interstitial lung disease and impact on sleep and bronchoscopy.

Merrill A. Krolick, DO, FACC, FACP

Merrill Krolick, DO, FACC, FACP, was born in New York City. He received his bacherlor's degree in biology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y. He then attended the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Westbury, N.Y. He completed a rotating internship at Sun Coast Osteopathic Hospital in Largo, Fla. In Tampa, Fla. he completed his internal medicine and cardiology training at the University of South Florida, including training in interventional cardiology and cardiac transplantation.

Dr. Krolick has been in clinical practice since 1992. Initially he practiced at Fairfax Hospital in Fairfax, Va. Currently he is practicing at The Heart Institute at Largo. He is an attending cardiologist at HCA Largo Medical Center, Morton Plant Hospital and HCA Indian Rocks Hospital.

Dr. Krolick has been a previous chairperson and director of the Pinellas chapter of the American Heart Association. He currently serves as co-director of the cardiology fellowship program at HCA Largo Medical Center and is director of the interventional cardiology fellowship. He directs the cardiac cath lab at HCA Largo Medical Center.

Dr. Krolick is triple board certified in Internal medicine, cardiology and interventional cardiology. He has written numerous articles including being published in The New England Journal of Medicine, and writing recent chapters in cardiovascular textbooks. He is an associate professor in cardiology at the University of South Florida, and at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Dr. Krolick has served as clinical investigator on numerous drug and clinical device trials including drug coated balloons for treatment of peripheral vascular disease and the original drug coated stent trials for coronary artery disease He practices noninvasive cardiology and interventional cardiology. His special interest is in peripheral vascular disease. He is recognized as both a national and local leader in endovascular interventions. He is currently on advisory panels for Bard Peripheral Vascular, CSI, Access Closure and St. Jude Medical. He has spoken at major vascular meetings including AMP and The Veins.

His peripheral interests included endovascular aortic aneurysm treatment and treatment of CLI (critical limb ischemia), Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT), venous treatment, and treatment of symptomatic claudication.

He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, American College of Physicians and Society of Cardiac Angiography and Interventionalists.

	College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) The College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) has a reciprocal credit reporting agreement with the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP). Prescribed credits can be claimed as the equivalent number of certified credits, and Elective credits can be claimed as the equivalent number of non-certified credits. Members of the CFPC may claim up to 50 credits per five-year cycle from Physician's Recognition Award (PRA) Category 1 credits. Any additional credits are eligible as non-certified credits.
	Credit Designation for Pharmacists: This knowledge-based activity is approved for 16 hours of pharmacy continuing education credit.

Tokyo (Yokohama), Japan - Tokyo is a city that's unlike any other. For a first-time visitor, arriving in Japan's capital is an almost otherworldly experience. From a western point of view, there are few places on earth that are quite this foreign. The land of the rising sun is known for maintaining a wonderful balance of modernity and tradition, and nowhere is this harmonious contrast more apparent than in Tokyo. Japan's most populous city is made up of several districts that each have their own unique atmosphere, not dissimilar to New York City's boroughs. From the serene and traditional Ueno to the super-chic shopping districts of Harajuku and Aoyama to the pop culture and technology mecca of Akihabara, Tokyo really does have something for everyone. Be sure to take advantage of the city's supremely efficient public transportation system; no need to limit your time in Tokyo to a single district when the Metro allows you to travel between them with ease. But no matter where you are in the city, there are a few things that can always be found within walking distance: outstanding food, fascinating architecture, and exceedingly polite locals. To truly take in the scale of Tokyo, view this sprawling cityscape from above. While many tourists visit Tokyo Skytree or Tokyo Tower for a chance to see the skyline, more shrewd travelers tend to favor the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building's Observatory. Of course, a stay at the Ritz-Carlton also offers a spectacular view from the privacy of your room.

Kobe, Japan - Perched on a hillside overlooking the sea, Kobe is one of Japan's most attractive and cosmopolitan cities. Home of the heralded Kobe beef, this small city is easily navigated. Visit the Hatsukura Sake Brewery Museum for a tour or dine in one of the area's incredible restaurants.

Hiroshima, Japan - Hiroshima is now defined as a beacon of peace and prides itself on its exceptional natural beauty. See more than 300 cherry blossom trees in bloom at Peace Memorial Park, journey to the breathtaking Itsukushima Shrine on Miyajima Island, and take time to sample "okonomiyaki"—a delicious example of Japanese soul food.

Kochi, Japan - Kochi is the capital of Kochi Prefecture on the southern coast of Shikoku. The city is small and friendly, with a casual atmosphere and a dose of southern flair. Kochi boasts several attractions of interest to travelers, including a well-preserved, original hilltop castle from the feudal period in Kochi's downtown.

Beppu, Japan - Beppu is a city and spa resort on the southern Japanese island of Kyushu. Set between Beppu Bay and volcanic mountains, it's home to more than 2,000 onsen (hot springs).

Kagoshima, Japan - Kagoshima is the capital city of Kagoshima Prefecture at the south western tip of the island of Kyushu in Japan, and the largest city in the prefecture by some margin. It has been nicknamed the "Naples of the Eastern world" for its bay location (Aira Caldera), hot climate, and emblematic stratovolcano, Sakurajima. The city was officially founded on April 1, 1889.

Fukuoka, Japan - Fukuoka City is the main port of access from Korea into Japan by sea and is regarded by many as the cultural hub of Japan.

Busan (Pusan), South Korea - Find stillness at some of the largest Korean Buddhist temples, including Beomeo-sa, first constructed in the year 678 and home to over one thousand monks-it also contains seven different registered national and cultural treasures. Near the port, explore the famous Jagalchi fish market or the city's renowned beach resorts. Journey to the Dongnae area to soak in the city's healing hot springs.

Jeju Island, South Korea - Jeju is the capital of Jeju Province in South Korea and the largest city on Jeju Island. The city is served by Jeju International Airport. Located on an island off the Korean Peninsula, Jeju has mild, warm weather during much of the year. The city is a well-known resort, with prestigious hotels and public casino facilities

Seoul (Incheon), South Korea - Seoul is one of Asia's major centers of culture, entertainment, and research, with additional strengths in the arts, commerce, education, finance, media, services, and tourism. Seoul forms the heart of the Seoul Capital Area, the 5th most populous in the world, which is also one of the most populous urban agglomerations and includes the surrounding Incheon metropolis and Gyeonggi province, altogether home to roughly half of the country's population.

Shanghai, China - Once a quaint fishing village, Shanghai has netted over 11 million people. Join the masses for morning tai chi on The Bund, or stroll through the Yu Yuan Gardens, inspiration for the famous " willow pattern" chinaware.
