Program Purpose / Objectives

Objectives: Upon completion of the course participants should be able to recognize common clinical presentations, review the diagnostic workup and appropriately manage the following pulmonary conditions: COPD, asthma, respiratory infections and community acquired pneumonia, mycobacterial disease, sleep disorders, pulmonary hypertension, thromboembolic disease, sarcoidosis and other interstitial lung disease, and occupational and environmental lung disease. Participants should also be able to describe pulmonary testing and measurement, review guidelines for pulmonary nodules and perform related risk stratification.

The course will include interactive lectures and small group problem solving exercises to develop these competencies, with time for questions and answers within each set of sessions. This seminar is appropriate for primary care physicians and clinicians, family practitioners, internists, obstetricians and others who evaluate pulmonary disorders in outpatient and inpatient settings.
