Mary T. Bruno, RN, CWS, WCC, FACCWS, DAPWCA, is a registered nurse, certified wound specialist and legal nurse consultant with over 25 years of health care experience. She carries a wealth of experience in the Wound Care arena, having practiced clinically in acute, sub-acute, rehabilitation, long-term care, home health and hospice settings. Mrs. Bruno is fully versed in Clinical Practice Guidelines, State and Federal Regulations, including JCAHO and residents rights.
In 2002, Mrs. Bruno established Bruno Medical-Legal Consultants, Inc. where she holds the position of President. At Bruno Medical-Legal Consultants, Inc., Mrs. Bruno works for both Plaintiff and Defense attorneys as a consulting expert on medically related cases and as an expert witness for wound related cases.
Mrs. Bruno also travels nationally, educating health care professionals on wound and legal related topics. Additionally, she was granted the title as an approved training provider for Alzheimer’s Disease & Related Disorders in Nursing homes by the Florida Department of Elder Affairs. Her professional affiliations include; American Academy of Wound Management; American Professional Wound Care Association; the American College of Certified Wound Specialists; Association for the Advancement of Wound Care; and the Wound, Ostomy & Continence Nurses Society

- Better recognize diabetic foot infections by utilizing IDSA Guidelines for the Clinical Classification of Diabetic Foot Infections.
- By utilizing the education of the American College of Foot & Ankle Surgeons outlined in their Effective Amputation Prevention Program you will leave more equipped to educate your patients / colleagues in a sound preventative program.
- Following our program you will leave ready to apply the most current guidelines published on the prevention, treatment, and management of Neuropathic Ulcer Management by the Wound Ostomy & Continence Society, the American College of Foot & Ankle Surgeons, and the Wound Healing Society.
Objectives ;
- Perform accurate and complete data collection - health history (generalized / foot specific).
- Identify risk factors for ulcerations / amputations (Amputation Prevention Program).
- Learn how to perform a comprehensive Lower Extremity Foot exam (Monofilament testing, tuning fork, temperature perception, 2 point discrimination).
- Peripheral neuropathy (a better understanding).
- Prevention! What every Diabetic must be taught! (Foot Exams, offloading techniques, shoes / inlays, sample patient instruction handouts). .
- Including demonstration of application of total contact casting
- Including billing codes for therapeutic footwear with sample forms
- Gain a better understanding of agents / therapies utilized in the management of Diabetic Peripheral neuropathic pain.
- Learn how to perform Wound assessments on patients with neuropathic ulcers (including various classification systems ie, Wagner, University of Texas & Pedis).
- Update your Ulcer Management / Wound Dressings (Proper use, common problems, Biophysical Agents, Advanced Wound Care Modalities).

Conference Sessions generally take place during the days at sea (as cruise itinerary allows) to avoid conflicts with Ports of Call or evening entertainment.
