Program Purpose / Objectives

Course Objectives
Following attendance at this educational activity, participants should be able to:
  • Recognize recent trends in endocarditis diagnosis, treatment, and prevention
  • Apply updated information to the understanding of C. difficile and other infections of the gastrointestinal tract
  • Improve understanding of common and uncommon skin and soft-tissue infections
  • Apply evidence-based information to the management of selected infections encountered in office practice
  • Update understanding of this sometimes perplexing syndrome and apply it to the clinical setting
  • Summarize recent guidelines regarding current management of patients with CAP
  • Review the current status of antibiotic resistance, including VRE and MRSA
  • Integrate recent developments concerning M. tuberculosis infections into outpatient practice
  • Summarize our understanding of this Chronic Fatigue Syndrome as it relates to the primary care physician
  • Incorporate these infectious disease management tips into everyday practice
  • Enhance understanding of selected mycoses
  • Recognize the importance and scope of the tremendous progress made in combating and even eradicating infectious diseases worldwide
