- Discuss strategies for administering analgesia in the ER
- Recognize that Demerol (meperidine) and Codeine are outdated drugs with many side effects
- Introduce Ketamine as both analgesia and dissociative agent for Procedural Sedation
- Refreshing knowledge and clinical presentation of dangerous headaches such as Subarachnoid Hemorrhage, Temporal Arteritis, Cerebral Venous Thrombosis, Carotid/Vertebral Artery Dissection, Pseudotumour Cerebri
- Discussing new evidence and controversial approaches to investigation of the Thunderclap Headache
- Learn to look for subtle features of Necrotizing Fasciitis
- Distinguishing the management of TENS, SJS, and Erythema Multiforme
- How to manage minor skin infections like Erysipelas, Furuncles and MRSA infections
- Understand that vascular emergencies are great masqueraders and have a wide range of clinical presentations
- Remember to consider vascular causes for many somatic complaints such as chest pain, back pain, limb ischemia and neurological abnormalities
- Learn to recognize serious injuries that may have negative / normal Xrays such as Scaphoid fracture, DRUJ injury, Lisfranc injury and Maisonneuve injury
- Learn to recognize subtle Xray findings of occult pneumothorax, scapholunate dissociation, Triquetrum fractures, etc.
