Program Purpose / Objectives

The overall goal of the course is to educate spine-related practitioners about the most current spine-related medical and surgical remedies. The course covers the rapidly changing and exciting field of Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery and Therapy, including how the reduction of operative costs, surgical time and patient recovery can be achieved.

At the end of this activity, participants should be able to: * Identify patients who would benefit from new procedures * Consult available resources to determine the best treatment * Inform patients of all treatment options, including both new and conventional therapies * Diagnose and treat patients with spine mediated pain
 

COURSE DESIGN

 

     The MISU 2005 course will begin with optional live surgery at a surgery center in south Florida under the direction of Dr. Merrill Reuter.  Lectures and workshops will be given aboard the Majesty of The Seas on Saturday and Sunday in morning and afternoon sessions.  Time will be set aside for recreational activities aboard the ship. The scheduled meeting times for the course will allow ample opportunity for participants to spend time with their families. The course will consist of:



Conference Sessions generally take place during the days at sea (as cruise itinerary allows) to avoid conflicts with Ports of Call or evening entertainment.

Accreditation

Accredited Continuing Medical Education Accreditation: Continuing Education, Inc is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Designation: Continuing Education, Inc designates this live activity for a maximum of 14 AMA PRA Category 1 Creditstm. Each physician should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
