Statement of Purpose:
The purpose of this CME activity is to outline the management of infectious challenges in clinical practice including emerging infections and antibiotic/preventive choices.
“At the conclusion of this CME activity, participants should be able to:
• Define risk factors for complicated UTIs
• Discuss the new vaccination recommendations for 2010
• Outline the CDC prevention guidelines for STDs
• Identify the risks of inappropriately timed vaccine delivery
• Discuss the increasing need for antiviral agents in the US today
• Recognize the increasing significance of fungal infections
• Outline three options for treating GAS carriers
• Describe emerging resistance to problem pathogens
• Summarize the guidelines for managing community-acquired pneumonia
• Review the history of MRSA
• List the characteristics of MSRA, the new C diff strain and SARS
• Identify ways to approach children with rashes
Conference Sessions generally take place during the days at sea (as cruise itinerary allows) to avoid conflicts with Ports of Call or evening entertainment.
