Mark H. Hyman, M.D., FACP, FAADEP, Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine, UCLA; Diplomate, American Board of Internal Medicine; Dr. Hyman was born in Detroit and attended The University of Michigan for undergraduate studies. He pursued medical school, internship and residency at UCLA. Now an Associate Professor on the clinical faculty at UCLA, his Internal Medicine research and interests have expanded to include headaches, smoking cessation, spinal disorders, police arrest techniques, Tuberous Sclerosis Complex, impairment and worker compensation issues.
Dr. Hyman is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American Academy of Disability Evaluating Physicians. He has published many articles and is a chapter author for the American Medical Association book-A Physician’s Guide to Return to Work and for the soon to be released AMA book on Causation. Dr. Hyman is on the editorial board of the AMA Guides Newsletter. He is a reviewer for the AMA Guides 6th edition. Dr. Hyman also served as the chair for the Internal Medicine section of the Medical Disability Advisor Fifth Edition. He has lectured extensively for the insurance industry, legal profession and at national disability meetings.

Statement of Purpose:
The purpose of this CME activity is to review the management of patients with various disabilities and apply the AMA Guidelines for evaluation.
Preliminary Objectives for Activity:
“At the conclusion of this CME activity, participants should be able to:
• Review the perspectives of various parties in disability evaluation
• Discuss the foundational concepts of the AMA Guides
• Review the chapters of the Guides and the methods used within those organ systems
• Discuss the overlap of pain and psychiatry in patient evaluation
• Utilize questionnaires in your practice based on the medical literature
• Differentiate between physician and legal colleagues of what constitutes important information
Conference Sessions generally take place during the days at sea (as cruise itinerary allows) to avoid conflicts with Ports of Call or evening entertainment.
Accreditation: Continuing Education, Inc. is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
