    • Identify the various hormonal and non-hormonal contraceptives available to women
    • Analyze the advantages of extended contraceptive regimens
    • Analyze the data on DMPA and BMD in women and adolescents
    • Update the latest WHO and U.S. MEC guidelines for women with medical conditions
  5. Menopausal Hormone Therapy - Controversies, Datasets, and Discussing All of This With Patients
    • Update the information relating to the benefits of hormone / estrogen therapy, since the Women’s Health Initiative and later publications
    • Update the current valid indications for hormone / estrogen therapy
    • Review the data regarding the impact of ET/HT on cardiovascular and on breast health
    • Present the newest data in a manner which can make sense to our patients
    • Discuss the new trends toward lower doses of ET/HT
  6. Abnormal Uterine Bleeding
    • Develop a working differential diagnosis of abnormal uterine bleeding
    • Appreciate the endocrinologic, systemic, and anatomic entities that can cause abnormal uterine bleeding
    • Develop a systematic approach to patient evaluation
    • Review and update the various pharmacologic regimens available to treat AUB

Faculty
David Plourd, M.D.
Dr. David Plourd is an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego, and also is an obstetric hospitalist at Scripps Hospital. Dr. Plourd has been lecturing nationally and internationally for over two decades on numerous women's healthcare topics. He was recently voted Teacher of the Year by the interns & residents at the Naval Medical Center. Dr. Plourd is a Board Examiner for the American Board of OB/GYN. He is also an Expert Reviewer for several State Medical Boards. Dr. Plourd also serves as a consultant for Dr. Oz, ABC News, Web-MD, Fox News, Cosmopolitan, Glamour, and Woman's Day magazines.


Amy Harvey O'Keeffe, M.D., FACOG,

Dr. Harvey O'Keeffe is a board-certified Obstetrician/Gynecologist at the Center for Women's Health in Langhorne, Pennsylvania. She has been in private practice for 18 years and has a special interest in menopausal medicine. Dr. Harvey has been voted Top Doc by her physician colleagues in the Greater Philadelphia area for five years.

She completed her undergraduate education at the University of Dallas in Irving, Texas and earned her medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr Harvey completed her residency in the Department of OB/GYN at Temple University Hospital where she also served as chief resident. She travels world wide to educate healthcare professionals about the latest updates in cancer care in women. Dr. Harvey recently co-hosted of a medical radio program, The Medical View: East Meets West, which aired weekly on WWDM AM 860, in Philadelphia, PA.

Dr. Harvey O'Keeffe is also a Master Level Reiki Practitioner and she incorporates various modalities of complementary medicine in caring for her patients. Her humanitarian work is exemplified by her medical leadership of an annual medical mission trip to the Dominican Republic.
