Program Purpose / Objectives
The purpose of this CME activity is to review current guidelines in gynecological care with particular emphasis on the management of acute and chronic pain.

Preliminary Objectives for Activity:

* Review diagnosis and treatment of common causes of gynecologic pain
* Outline potential causes of acute migraine
* Compare current hormonal alternatives in treating menopausal symptoms
* Define the Complex Regional Pain Syndrome
* Recommend newer options for treating menorrhagia and dysmenorrhea
* Outline diagnosis and management of cervical and lumbar pain
* Evaluate newer methods of hormonal contraception
* Discuss current guidelines for management of STD's including pelvic inflammatory disease

Bruce D. Shephard, M.D Clinical Associate Professor, University of South Florida; Private Practice, Tampa, Florida.

Dr. Shephard is co-author of The Complete Guide to Women's Health and has written extensively on women's health care for the consumer media. He has served as a McCain Fellow in Washington with the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Dr. Shephard was recently selected for inclusion in The Marquis Who's Who in Medicine and Health Care (2002-2003)
