Lecture Sessions:
* Disability Management - A Physician Perspective (1.5 hours)
* Overview of the AMA Guides 5th Edition (1.5 hours)
* Activities of Daily Living (1 hour)
* Introduction to Cardiovascular Evaluation (1 hour)
* Introduction to Pulmonary Evaluation (1 hour)
* Introduction to Neurology Evaluation (1.5 hours)
* Introduction to the “Other Chapters” - GI, GU, Skin, Heme, Endocrine (1 hour)
* Introduction to Psychiatry Evaluation (1 hour)
* Introduction to Pain Evaluation (1 hour)
* Identifying Illness Behavior-use of Psychometric Questionnaires (1.5 hrs)
Attendees will be introduced to a strong foundation in the area of disability management, emphasizing the evaluation of patients with worker compensation claims. Prior experience is not necessary. Concepts to be stressed in this seminar include:
* Understanding the perspectives of various parties in disability evaluation
* Emphasis on the foundational concepts of the AMA Guides
* Exposure to all the chapters of the Guides and the methods used within
those organ systems
* Special discussions on overlap of pain & psychiatry in patient evaluation
* Utility of adding questionnaires to your practice based on the medical
literature
* Interchange between physician and legal colleagues of what constitutes
important information
