Program Purpose / Objectives
Preliminary Objectives for this activity:
• Define wellness.
• Identify key nutrients and the relationship to a balanced diet.
• List factors that influence health behavior change decisions.
• Describe characteristics of a realistic exercise program.
• Identify causes of overweight & adverse physical effects.
• Describe a healthful weight management program.
• Recognize herbal medication use for common health care concerns.
• Identify recommended nutrient intakes.
• Evaluate foods regarding their nutrient contents.
• Recognize the impact of nutrition on the total physical, mental, and social development of the individual throughout the life cycle.
• Interpret the significance of the organic and slow food movements for nutritional status.
• Compare and contrast various diet programs for effectiveness.
• Identify the physiological demands of working day and night shifts.
• Recognize the properties and applications of Eastern Medicine practices.
• Identify the relationship between particular foods, nutritional benefits & nutritional deficiencies.
• Recognize the mind-body connection in meditational practices.

Nursing Contact Hours: This educational activity is offered by Paragon Education and is “provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider #CEP 14156 for 14 contact hours.” This course is recognized as a Type I program by the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners. California certification also grants reciprocal approval for CE credit in the states of AL, AR, DC, KS, KY, LA, MA, MN, NE, NV, NH, NJ, NM, NC, ND, OH, PA, SC & TX. In addition, credit will also be granted in those states without a state nursing CE requirement.
Conference Sessions generally take place on days at sea (as itinerary allows), giving you plenty of time to enjoy your meals, evenings and ports of call with your companion, family and friends.

Cheryl Randolph, RN, MSN, CCRN, CEN, CPEN, FNP-BC

Ms. Randolph has been practicing critical-care nursing for the past 21-years in ED, ICU & PACU. She has taught nursing at both the associate and baccalaureate levels, and has lectured at numerous national conferences, including the ENA Scientific Assembly. She is currently working as a critical care nurse in San Francisco and as a Family Nurse Practitioner in Marin County, California.
