Current and Historical Community Trauma: What Counselors and Supervisors Need to Know for Effective and Ethical Practice This workshop offers an in-depth exploration of both current and historical community trauma. Participants will examine how intergenerational adversity, social inequities, and ongoing collective stressors shape present-day mental health challenges and influence the counseling relationship. Participants will examine trauma-informed and culturally responsive counseling and supervision practices, including considerations for tele-supervision and tele-health. Learning Objectives: (1) Explore the impact of current and historical community trauma on the present-day health of individuals and the community; (2) Identify at least three culturally responsive counseling and supervisory strategies for improving client functioning as it relates to community trauma; (3) Assess two ethical and professional considerations related to current community trauma and develop responses aligned with standards of competent practice, including both tele-health and tele-supervision.
