Program Purpose / Objectives
This course, with its multimedia approach, is designed for dentists who wish to know how to make accurate diagnosis, perform predictably successful endodontics.

The participants will learn simplified, non-confused clinical endodontics.

Module 1: Endodontic Diagnosis and Pulpal Pathogenesis

  2. Pathogenesis and Diagnosis of pulpal and periradicular diseases.
  3. Effective and productive emergency treatment

Module 2: Accurate Access Opening, Cleaning & Shaping

  1. Effective and painless anesthetic technique
  2. Five mechanical objectives of cleaning and shaping.
  3. Five biologic objectives
  4. Ten tips of cleaning & shaping

Module 3: 3D Vertical Compaction of Warm Gutta-Percha, filling accessory canals

  1. Achieve excellence in clinical endodontics and maintain a profitable income.
  2. Thermoprofile of warm gutta-percha
  3. Using hydrostatic and hydraulic pressure to fill accessory canal

Faculty
Donald C. Yu, D.M.D., MScD, Adjunct Clinical Instructor, Department of Endodon­tics, GSDM Clinical Professor and Director, Endodontics, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, University of Alberta.

Donald C. Yu attracts numerous dentists and dental auxiliaries each year. His lecturing experience includes conferences, seminars, conventions, study clubs, table clinics, special programs, dental school programs and dental assistant programs. A dynamic seminar leader who captivates his audience with a clear, understandable presentation full of excellent ideas, facts, techniques and figures.

Dr. Yu has delivered many presentations and participation courses at various state, provincial, regional, national and international conferences for different organizations such as American Dental Association, Canadian Dental Associations, Academy of General Dentistry, Yankee Dental Congress, Federation Dentaire Internationale, etc.

He is a member of Canadian Dental Association, Canadian Academy of Endodontics, Royal College of Dentists in Canada, American Association of Endodontists, Alberta Dental Association, Alberta Society of Endodontists, Edmonton and District Dental Society, Edmonton Multidisciplinary Dental Study Club. He is a Fellow of Academy of General Dentistry and Academy of Dentistry International.

He is a member of Canadian Dental Association, Canadian Academy of Endodontics, Royal College of Dentists in Canada, American Association of Endodontists, Alberta Dental Association, Alberta Society of Endodontists, Edmonton and District Dental Society, Edmonton Multidisciplinary Dental Study Club. He is a Fellow of Academy of General Dentistry and Academy of Dentistry International.

He received his D.M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania, and holds a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Endodontics, Master of Dental Science in Endodontics from Boston University.

Dr. Yu is the Clinical Professor and Director of the Endodontics Program, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry at the University of Alberta and currently is a visiting faculty member of Boston University. He is a guest lecturer of the Dental Assisting Program at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology. He practices full-time endodontics with his two brothers and partners in their Edmonton Endo-Perio-Prosth office.
