Daniel R. Martin, MD, MBA, is a Professor in the Departments of Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. He is a distinguished educator who has served in numerous leadership roles, including as the former Vice Chair of Education for the Department of Emergency Medicine and as the longtime Program Director for both the Emergency Medicine-Internal Medicine and the Categorical Emergency Medicine residency programs.

Dr. Martin received his undergraduate and medical degrees from Indiana University and later earned an Executive MBA from The Ohio State University's Fisher College of Business. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at the University of Iowa and his Emergency Medicine residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin, where he served as Chief Resident.

His clinical and research interests include the treatment of infectious diseases in the emergency department, cognitive errors in medicine, leadership, and the patient experience. In recognition of his extensive contributions to the field, he has received numerous accolades, including the Ohio ACEP Bill Hall Award for Service (2019) and the Woody Hayes Leadership Award (2025). He remains an active leader in national organizations and has been an Ohio ACEP Counselor since 1995.

Dr. Piziak received her undergraduate degrees and her PhD from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and her medical degree from University Kentucky in Lexington. She completed her internal medicine residency at Akron general Medical Center in Akron Ohio and her fellowship training in endocrinology metabolism at the University of Cincinnati, Ohio. 

Dr. Piziak is presently the Emeritus Chief of Endocrinology, Director of the Diabetes section and Director of the Endocrinology Fellowship program at Baylor Scott and White in Temple Texas. She is a Professor of Medicine at Texas A&M University and a fellow of the American College of physicians.

At Sea - Cruising

Belize City, Belize

Belize City is best understood not as a destination to be explored on its own, but as the gateway to Central America's most profound natural and historical treasures. The port itself is a tender port, bringing you to a tourist village that serves as a functional launchpad for excursions. The real Belize experience begins here.

The primary draw is the Belize Barrier Reef, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Day trips to nearby cayes offer world-class snorkeling opportunities amid vibrant coral gardens, sea turtles, and gentle rays. Inland, the country’s famous cave tubing adventures invite you to float on a river through stunning subterranean cave systems, an experience often paired with a zipline tour through the rainforest canopy. If you stay on the island, the main town of San Miguel offers a bustling waterfront and a dizzying array of shops. We recommend walking a few blocks inland from the main tourist thoroughfare to find more authentic local restaurants for a fantastic lunch. For pure relaxation, Cozumel’s beach clubs are a popular and effective choice. They range from lively, all-inclusive party spots with water toys to more serene, upscale retreats where the focus is on a good book and a great cocktail. You can easily find one that matches your pace. Cozumel is a highly developed tourism hub that excels at water sports and beach relaxation; embrace it for these strengths, and you’ll have a fantastic day.

Georgetown, Grand Cayman

Grand Cayman offers a distinctly polished and pristine version of the Caribbean experience. As a major financial hub, the island feels safe, clean, and exceptionally well-organized, making for a seamless and relaxing day ashore. It’s important to note that this is a tender port; your ship will anchor offshore, and you’ll take a smaller boat to the pier, so be sure to factor that time into your plans.

The island’s reputation is built on two world-class attractions. The first is the legendary Seven Mile Beach, a magnificent crescent of soft, white sand and impossibly clear turquoise water. While it’s no secret, its beauty is undeniable. You can easily grab a taxi from the port and find a public access point or settle in at one of the many beach clubs for the day. TRIP CANCELLATION

Reimburses your prepaid, non-refundable travel expenses if you need to cancel your trip due to a covered reason, such as you, a family member, or traveling companion experiencing a covered illness or injury. Examples include:

  • Your parent or child requires hospitalization

TRIP INTERRUPTION
