Program Purpose / Objectives
Contoversies in Forensics
  1. Medical Cause and Manner of Death - Breadth and depth of investigations requires a "team attack"
  2. Consulting Forensic Pathologist and Manner of Death - Opinion? Pending? Convincing? Conclusive? Medical Certainty? Incontrovertible?
  3. The Autopsy and The Naked Corpse - Should the pathologist deal with a naked corpse and nothing more or should he wait a couple days until we have a story with all the circumstances?
  4. DNA - Caveats and Cautions
  5. Toxicology Conundrums
    • Time lag to the toxicology reporting
    • Massive costs of "back up"- non definitive autopsies
    • Cause and Manner of Death
    • Firm foundation : Stand alone Toxicology Report
  6. Virtual Autopsies: Pitfalls and Pratfalls or Fancy CT's? - "Screening" tool only?
  7. Responsibilities and Implications
    • Criminal Case Scenarios
    • Preservation of Autopsy Findings
    • Interface and Accommodations: Organ Recovery and Donation
    • "Team" Consensus (police, district attorney, pathologist, coroner, medical examiner)
  8. Certification of "Fact of Death Considerations"
    • Protocol Variations
    • Ethics Committees
    • Integrity of Findings/Opinions/Conclusions
  9. Today: Justice for One
  10. Tomorrow: Justice for Others
  11. Future: Justice for all
  12. 2 or 3 Additional Topics for Consideration
Conference Sessions generally take place on days at sea (as itinerary allows), giving you plenty of time to enjoy your meals, evenings and ports of call with your companion, family and friends.

Ports of Call
Costa Maya, Mexico - Exploring the dense tropical vegetation and wide sandy bays of the Costa Maya, it's easy to imagine the days when sacrifice and slavery, rite and ritual were rampant in the Mayan culture. Even today, the countless ruins of temple walls, stairs and secret pathways exude magic and mystery. And when your archaeology lesson is complete, glorious stretches of coral sand may inspire you to build your own empire-of sand castles, of course!
Key West, Florida - A distinctly American town with the look and feel of the Caribbean, Key West unlocks myriad attractions. Ride the Conch Train to the famous sights: Ernest Hemingway's home, the Audubon House, and the "Little White House", where President Truman spent many a working vacation. Hop a catamaran to America's only living coral reef to snorkel with dolphins. Or climb into the open cockpit of a World War II biplane for an unforgettable aerial tour of the Keys.
Roatan, Honduras - Roatan Island, Honduras is an adventure traveler's vacation paradise with its blue skies, clear turquoise water and year-round moderate climate. Go scuba diving, snorkeling, swimming with the dolphins or, ashore, take a canopy tour, ride horses, explore tropical scenery, shop for island crafts, walk the beach and view butterfly and floral gardens.
Santo Tomas de Castilla, Guatemala - Your portal to the fabulous Mayan ruins in Guatemala and Honduras. Not to be missed: Quirigua National Park, where intricately carved stellae and zoomorphisms conceal the mysteries of a lost world; Tikal, where a secretive jungle plaza is flanked by seven great stone temples; and Copan, "Paris of the Mayan world."
Tampa, Florida - A myriad of attractions awaits you during your stay in the Tampa area: the active nightlife of Tampa's Ybor City, it's Aquarium, and Busch Gardens for those with kids (even Walt Disney World is within striking distance). Magnificent beaches are a short ride away (Ft. DeSoto being a rare jewel of a beach without hotels and "McMansions" crowding out nature), then there's the Dali museum in St. Petersburg's hip, food-and-art-centric Downtown. To the south, in quieter Sarasota, you can visit the palatial mansion and art museum of the king of the circus: John Ringling. It's a great vacation destination, in itself. Be sure to plan a couple days before or after your cruise to soak it in.

Our staff can assist you with all your travel arrangements.

TravelSafe.comPlease visit TravelSafe.com for travel insurance information.

Cruise Line cancellation policies are strictly enforced. For that reason, we urge all of our travelers to carefully consider whether travel insurance is a good value for them.

Certainly, if you have reason to think that "something might come up" that might force you to cancel, travel insurance is worth the cost of the premium. Examples we've seen in the past include ill or frail family members and changes in employment causing relocation.

If travel insurance is the right choice for you, we recommend TravelSafe. To visit their site and explore your options click here or on the link above. The cruise lines also offer travel insurance and we'd be happy to help you go that route if you'd prefer.
