Program Purpose / Objectives

Marquette University School of Dentistry and Wisconsin Dental Association are pleased to offer continuing education sessions during the full days at sea presented by Dr. Ma'Lou Sabino. She will cover topics across the Oral & Maxillofacial rainbow with 9 credits of CE as the pot of gold at the end. There will be three 3-hour sessions including:

  • The Anatomy of an Academic Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon (30 min)
  • An Update on Bone Modifying Agents (1.5 hrs)
  • Management of Common Medical Emergencies in the Dental Practice (1 hr)
  • Twenty Drugs Dentists Should Know (1 hr)
  • Principles of Management of the Odontogenic Infection (1 hr)
  • TMJ vs. MPD: which came first, the chicken or the egg? (1 hr)
  • Management of Dental Trauma (1 hr)
  • Obstructive Sleep Apnea for Dental Providers (1 hr)
  • Clinical Controversies in Dentistry (1 hr)
Conference Sessions generally take place on days at sea (as itinerary allows), giving you plenty of time to enjoy your meals, evenings and ports of call with your companion, family and friends.

Faculty

Dr. Ma'Lou Sabino has been an Assistant Professor in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in the Department of Surgery, Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin since 2004. She completed her BA in Biology at Macalester College in St. Paul, MN and received her Doctorate in Dental Surgery at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis in 2000. She then completed her residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin in 2004 before joining the faculty in the same institution. She holds privileges at Froedtert Hospital, Children's Hospital of Wisconsin, the Veteran's Administration Medical Center, and Sargeant Health Center.

Dr. Sabino is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and holds dental licenses in both Wisconsin and Minnesota. She is a Fellow and the Wisconsin Delegate to the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and is affiliated with the Wisconsin Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Greater Milwaukee Dental Association, Wisconsin Dental Association, and American Dental Association.

Her clinical interests include maxillofacial trauma, pathology and reconstruction, dentoalveolar and implant surgery, osteonecrosis of the jaws, and orthognathic surgery. She has lectured locally, nationally, and internationally on such topics. She currently focuses her clinical practice at Sargeant Health Center on the Medical College of Wisconsin campus and holds special interest in residency education at the Medical College of Wisconsin and the Veteran's Administration Medical Center in Milwaukee.

Roatan, Honduras - Roatan Island, Honduras is an adventure traveler's vacation paradise with its blue skies, clear turquoise water and year-round moderate climate. Go scuba diving, snorkeling, swimming with the dolphins or, ashore, take a canopy tour, ride horses, explore tropical scenery, shop for island crafts, walk the beach and view butterfly and floral gardens.

All cabins include minibar, vanity area, hair-dryer, TV, phone, vanity table with an extendable working surface for laptop computers and 110/220 electrical outlets. Some have sofa beds and can accommodate 3-4 guests. Access to internet via on-board "Internet Cafe" as well as select WIFI - hotspots throughout the ship (usage fee applies). Royal Caribbean has installed cellular technologies aboard their ships that allow you to use your cell phone anywhere the ship happens to be. International roaming fees apply...please check with your cell phone provider as these fees can be $2.50 per minute and more. Not all staterooms within each category have the same furniture configuration and/or facilities. Prices include current taxes and port charges as well as all shipboard meals, entertainment and activities. Not included: transportation to the ship, certain beverages, gratuities and seminar fee.
