Ports of Call
Southampton (London), England (Embark and Debark) - "Sir, when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford." Samuel Johnson's famous words are as true today as when he spoke them. A visitor to London could fill a month with fascinating people, art, music, late-night dancing, fabulous shopping, an endless array of pubs and first rate meals. Tourists should take in Victoria Station, the beauty of Westminster Abbey, Parliament, and the pomp of Buckingham Palace. And then there are the "Elgin Marbles" at the British Museum and the Crown Jewels in the Tower of London. Or visit Sherlock Holmes' HQ on Baker Street (you know the address). After all that, make what might be the most important stop of all: grab a pint at one of the many corner pubs that's been hosting revelers since before America was a nation. Definitely a place to "take in," not just "pass through."

From London, you'll transfer to Southampton to board your ship and start your cruise conference.

Bilbao, Spain - Bilbao, Spain's sixth-largest city, is being revitalized with the help of astounding strides in art and architecture. New life arrived in this commercial/industrial hub via the astonishing Bilbao Guggenheim Museum; the new, sleek glass and steel tube metro system; and the stunning glass-decked parabolic arch footbridge above the Nervion River. Bilbao also provides an excellent home base from which to explore the diverse Basque country, from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pyrenees.
Gijon, Spain - Beautiful green landscapes meet rural countrysides in GijĂłn, which started as a fishing village 3,000 years ago. Situated on the coast of Spain's famed Asturias region, this beautiful city offers an attractive combination of seafaring flavor, historic buildings and modern urban development. Most of the streets are cobblestone, barely two cars wide and pave the way to many renovated buildings that display the colorful life of the village. At the end of your day, visit a SidrerĂa (cider bar) and sample a bottle of the regional alcoholic specialty accompanied by a tapa or two - they say you haven't visited Asturias until you've tried cider.
Le Havre (Paris), France - For most, Le Havre is the gateway for a day-visit to Paris. Survey the city of lights from the Eiffel Tower or from a cruise of the Seine. And there is the food (oh, the food). Wander through the beautiful architecture of St. Germain or the Latin Quarter and find a bistro to settle into with a bottle of wine and experience the culinary delights that only the French seem able to offer. And, then there are the absolutely stunning museums (Musee du Louvre, Musee de l'Orangerie, Musee d'Orsay, and the Musee d'Art Moderne). Or, if shopping is for you, Paris has it: from souvenirs and t-shirts to high fashion, small antiques and fine art, you can find something that'll catch your eye. But, pace yourself; you're not going to get all this done in a day: pick your battles, whet your appetite and plan a return trip.

If the journey to Paris sounds like too much for you (about three and a half hours each way by auto, two and half by train), Le Havre itself is a beautiful little French city where you can find great food, charming streets and beautiful architecture. It also has a nice not-too-big Museum of Modern Art with an excellent collection of France's many great expressionist painters.
Southampton (London), England - One of the world's most famed ports, Southampton served as the launching point of the Mayflower and the Titanic. Today, it's one of the busiest passenger ports. Visit the Southampton Maritime Museum, which chronicles the history of Southampton and its significant role as a port for ocean liners, the most famous being the Titanic. Not to be missed is the exhibit "Titanic Voices", where visitors can hear the story of the tragic voyage in the words of survivors and those touched by the tragedy. Port tips from our blog
St. Peter Port - Guernsey's capital has been a busy entrepot since Roman times. Georgian and Regency style homes were enriched by an influx of French emigres, including Victor Hugo. Today the town is a framed by a tumble of terraces and tiered gardens and criss-crossed by worn steps and hidden alleys.

If you prefer to relax, take time to just look around you, soak up the atmosphere, sit and have a coffee or snack and watch the world go by in the Channel Islands' most beautiful town.

Cruise Line cancellation policies are strictly enforced. For that reason, we urge all of our travelers to carefully consider whether travel insurance is a good value for them.

Certainly, if you have reason to think that "something might come up" that might force you to cancel, travel insurance is worth the cost of the premium. Examples we've seen in the past include ill or frail family members and changes in employment causing relocation.

If travel insurance is the right choice for you, we recommend TravelSafe. To visit their site and explore your options click here or on the link above; this link allows you to price out the insurance plan you prefer. The cruise lines also offer travel insurance and we'd be happy to help you go that route if you'd prefer.
