Amy B. Harris, MSN, APN, OCNS-C, has spent 30 years working across a wide variety of orthopaedic settings, including level-one trauma hospital inpatient units, ambulatory care facilities, a rehabilitation hospital, operating rooms, and outpatient pediatric orthopaedics and rheumatology. Throughout her career, she has held roles as a staff nurse, nurse manager, and clinical nurse specialist. For the past nine years, Amy has served as a Rheumatology Nurse Coordinator, significantly expanding her expertise in the field.
A sought-after presenter on the care of patients with orthopaedic and rheumatologic conditions, Amy is well known for her energized teaching style and her ability to deliver practical information and engaging case studies to diverse healthcare providers. She has shared her insights nationally at conferences co-sponsored by the National Association of Orthopaedic Nurses (NAON) and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and frequently teaches orthopaedic certification exam review courses across the country.
Amy demonstrates a strong commitment to professional development and leadership within her specialty. She is an active member of the Rheumatology Nurses Society (RNS) and a frequent national congress speaker for NAON, having also served on their education committee and co-chaired their first full-day APN conference. Additionally, she holds certification as an Orthopaedic Clinical Nurse Specialist and contributes to the field by serving on the test committee and as an item-writer for the Orthopaedic Nursing Certification Board (ONCB).
