Katherine A. Hochman, MD, MBA, FHM, is an Associate Professor of Medicine at NYU Langone Health, where she serves as the Associate Chair for Quality and the inaugural Director for the Division of Hospital Medicine. She earned her dual undergraduate degree in Biology and English from the University of Pennsylvania before completing her MD and MBA at the University of Miami. Dr. Hochman completed her internal medicine training at the NYU/Bellevue Residency Program, where she was subsequently selected to serve as Chief Medical Resident.
A prominent leader in hospital medicine, Dr. Hochman founded the Hospitalist program at NYU Tisch Hospital in 2004 and has since scaled it into a massive division encompassing over 350 physicians across six hospitals. Her leadership and focus on quality have directly contributed to NYU Langone maintaining a number-one Vizient rank for comprehensive academic hospitals for four consecutive years.
Dr. Hochman’s research and clinical interests focus on creating a culture of safety, enhancing teamwork, refining models of care delivery, and maximizing hospital operational efficiency. Her innovative work on "Discharge Before Noon" has been widely disseminated, and she frequently speaks nationally on these administrative and quality-improvement topics.
