Program Purpose / Objectives
The purpose of this CME activity is to update pharmacists and medical practitioners on current indications, interactions and complications in the use of pharmaceuticals.

Preliminary Objectives:
Following attendance at this educational activity, participants should be able to:
• Identify the top 10 therapeutic classes by drug spending in the U.S. and implications to stakeholders.
• Discuss the clinical indications of the new pharmaceutical products approved by the FDA.
• Evaluate natural products use, effectiveness, and precautions specific to use in women’s health.
• Analyze the treatment guidelines for community-acquired pneumonia, hypertension, and high cholesterol.
• Identify risk factors and quality indicators for preventable drug-related morbidity in older adults.
• Discuss the various types of decision analyses that can be conducted in pharmacoeconomics.
• Describe common sources for miscommunication in health care that can lead to potentially serious medical errors and ways to reduce such errors within the medication use system.


ProCE, Inc. is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. ACPE Universal Program Numbers 221-999-05-015-L04 through 221-999-05-021-L03 have been assigned to these live programs (initial release date 07-03-05). These programs are approved for a total of 14.0 contact hours (1.40 CEUs) in states that recognize ACPE providers. The program cost is covered through the registration fee. Statements of credit will be mailed to participants within 6 weeks of program completion. Participants must attend the entire program and complete a program evaluation form to receive pharmacy CE credit. No partial credit will be given.
