6. Describe the necessary points within the medication use system in which technology can be employed to reduce medical errors within health care.

Accreditation

Pharmacy CE credits are provided for these programs through collaboration between ProCE and University at Sea. ProCE, Inc. is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. ACPE Universal Program Numbers 221-999-08-075-L01-P, 221-999-08-076-L01-P, 221-999-08-077-L04-P, 221-999-08-079-L05-P, 221-999-08-080-L05-P, 221-999-08-081-L04-P, and 221-999-09-028-L04-P have been assigned to these live programs (initial release date 08-18-08). These programs are approved for a combined total of 14.0 contact hours (1.40 CEUs) in states that recognize ACPE providers. The registration fee covers the cost of CE credits. Statements of credit will be mailed to participants within 6 weeks of program completion. Participants must attend the entire session(s) / program(s) and complete a CE request form and program evaluation for each session / program attended to receive pharmacy CE credit.

Faculty
George E. Mackinnon, PhD., RPh.
Dr. MacKinnon is Chair and Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice, Midwestern University College of Pharmacy-Glendale, Arizona. Over the past ten years he has been active in developing collaborative practice models with physicians and pharmacy practice faculty.

Dr. MacKinnon completed his pharmacy education at the University of Wisconsin in Madison and earned a Ph.D. in Higher Education, Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from Loyola University in Chicago. He has been directly involved in the establishment of two colleges of pharmacy and is the Founding Editor of InetCE™, an Internet-based continuing education publication for health care providers.

Karen Mackinnon, RPh
Karen MacKinnon is Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Midwestern University College of Pharmacy-Glendale and is the Director of Professional Laboratories for the College. She has practiced in both institutional and community pharmacy practice.

Ms. MacKinnon received her pharmacy degree from the University of Wisconsin in Madison. After practicing at St. Louis University Hospital she relocated to Arizona to assist in the development of a new College of Pharmacy. In 2001, she was awarded the "Faculty Excellence Award" from the Arizona Pharmacy Association.
