Ports of Call
Bari, Italy - Fairy-tale houses that look like chanterelle mushrooms. Alberobello's little round houses with the cone-topped roofs are called trulli -- and they are truly unique. Their origins are ancient -- some date from 3000 B.C. And they are only found here.
Dubrovnik, Croatia - This ancient city is set on a peninsula and surrounded by a 1,000 year old protective wall. Said to be one of the prettiest spots in the world, visitng it's old-city, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is like stepping back in time. Or into another world, Dubrovnik is the principal filming location for King's Landing from the blovkbuster book (and television series) "Game of Thrones."
Koper, Slovenia - Koper, the Old Town at least, is one big sight. From carved grey Istrian limestone to narrow intertwining streets leading to the main square, everything in Koper narrates a story of past and present moments. Be sure to see the hacienda-like Praetorian Palace, the seat of the city's governor during the Venetian Republic.
Ravenna, Italy - Located on the Adriatic coast in North-East Italy, Ravenna was briefly the capital of the Roman Empire and later the Italian capital of the Byzantine Empire. During this time, incredible mosaics were constructed throughout the city. Described as a symphony of color in Dante's Divine Comedy, Ravenna's well-preserved mosaics are some of the finest remaining in the Western world.
Venice, Italy - Venice is possibly the most romantic place you'll ever visit. It seems almost redundant to describe the charms of Venice. The cafes of St. Mark's Square, Palazzo-lined canals plied by gondolas, the elegant Doge's Palace, the Bridge of Sighs and the Church of San Giorgio Maggiore: Venice is one impossibly beautiful sight after next. A great collection of Renaissance era art is housed at Gallerie dell'Accademia. Or, if you prefer modern art, Venice is home to the Peggy Guggenheim Collection. And, if you want to enjoy a truly special meal while here, visit one of the excellent restaurants of the Associazione dei Ristoranti della Buona Accoglienza.

Still not sure how you'll entertain yourself? Here's the New York Times' take on how to get the most out of your time in Venice (published June 12, 2014) 36 Hours in Venice Port tips from our blog

Cruise Line cancellation policies are strictly enforced. For that reason, we urge all of our travelers to carefully consider whether travel insurance is a good value for them.

Certainly, if you have reason to think that "something might come up" that might force you to cancel, travel insurance is worth the cost of the premium. Examples we've seen in the past include ill or frail family members and changes in employment causing relocation.

If travel insurance is the right choice for you, we recommend TravelSafe. To visit their site and explore your options click here or on the link above; this link allows you to price out the insurance plan you prefer. The cruise lines also offer travel insurance and we'd be happy to help you go that route if you'd prefer.
