Dr. John Fisher is an alumnus of the University of Notre Dame. He went to medical school at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, VA (now Virginia Commonwealth University). His first two years of residency were at the University of Cincinnati. He then served two and a half years as a US Navy Flight Surgeon in Pensacola, Florida, before completing his residency and infectious disease fellowship back at MCV. He is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases. His more than 30-year career in academic medicine began at the Medical Collge of Georgia in Augusta, GA (now Georgia Regents University) where he has received more than 50 local and national teaching awards including the coveted Clinical Teacher Award in 2005, given annually at the national meeting of the Infectious Disease Society of America and the J. Willis Hurst Clinical Teacher Award. Dr. Fisher is the author of more than 50 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals and more than 40 book chapters. He has been married to the former Peggy Ballance for 37 years and has three sons, three daughters, and two grandchildren.

Dr. David Plourd has been an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego, and at UCSD, for the past two decades, and recently joined the cutting edge trend in obstetrics by joining the Obstetric Hospitalist Team at Scripps Hospital. Dr. Plourd has been teaching and lecturing nationally and internationally on numerous women's healthcare topics. He was voted “Teacher of the Year” by the interns & residents at the Naval Medical Center.

Dr. Plourd is a Board Examiner for the American Board of OB/GYN. He is also an Expert Reviewer for several State Medical Boards. Dr. Plourd also serves as a consultant for Dr. Oz, ABC News, Web-MD, Fox News, Cosmopolitan, Glamour, Redbook, and Woman's Day magazines.

Dr. Veronica Piziak is Emeritus Director for the Division of Endocrinology and Director of the Diabetes Center for Scott & White in Temple, Texas. She has attained the rank of Professor of Medicine and Endocrinology at Texas A&M University College of Medicine and is Professor of Social and Behavioral Health for Texas A&M School of Rural Public Health. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency at the Akron General Medical Center in Akron, Ohio and received her specialty training/fellowship in Endocrinology and Metabolism at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, Cincinnati, OH. Her patient care emphasis is on diabetes, lipids disorders, and osteoporosis prevention and treatment and professional activities include obesity and osteoporosis research. She has been on the list of Super Doctors in Texas from 2004 - 2011, and Best Doctors in America 2000 - 2011. She has published numerous papers, lectures extensively, and organizes CME activities.

Dr. Richard Usatine is a full Professor of Family and Community Medicine and of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery. He received his MD from Columbia University and completed his family medicine residency at UCLA Medical Center. He is the co-author of 5 books and the lead author of “The Color Atlas of Family Medicine” and “Dermatological and Cosmetic Procedures in Office Practice”. He has published over one-hundred peer-reviewed articles and has won numerous teaching awards. Among his numerous honors and awards is the 2000 Humanism in Medicine Education award, presented by the Association of American Medical Colleges. He received the UTHSCSA Family Medicine Residency Faculty Recognition Award in 2004 and the President's Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2006.

Dr. Usatine has been working with medical students to provide health care to homeless families and the medically underserved since 1984. He is the founder and medical director of the University Health System Skin Clinic in San Antonio, which provides underserved patients access to medical and surgical care for their dermatological needs. He also directs the only underserved dermatology fellowship for family physicians in the US. Dr. Usatine was recognized in 2000 as the national recipient of the Humanism in Medicine Award, by the Association of American Medical Colleges.

Dr. Usatine is the founder of the Interactive Dermatology Atlas on the web and the editor of Photo Rounds in the Journal of Family Practice. He is also the national chair of the yearly Skin Course put on by the American Academy of Family Physicians.
