PROGRAM PURPOSE

Pediatric Sports Medicine:
This lecture series will focus on commonly seen Pediatric injuries that may be encountered by any provider who cares for children. Topics range from taking a sports physical to the management of common injuries experienced by children. In addition we will discuss supplements taken by many athletes and there will also be a lecture regarding marine injuries given the location of our classroom.

Pediatric Gastroenterology:
The purpose of our lectures during this CME conference is to present a wide range and variety of important information in the field of pediatric gastroenterology in a concise and complete format. Topics pertaining to childrenâs health care include the application of the current guidelines for the management and treatment of GERD and constipation in the pediatric population; a review of the recognizable signs and symptoms of celiac disease and inflammatory bowel disease in children; a discussion of the literature and indications for probiotic use in pediatrics; and an overview of the approach to evaluating children and adolescents with elevated liver enzymes and with eating disorders.

Michael J. Wilsey, Jr., MD, FAAP, NASPGHAN-F, is a Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine. He serves as the Director of Interventional Endoscopy and the Vice-Chief of the Department of Pediatric Gastroenterology at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida, where he also served as the former Chief of the Medical Staff.

Dr. Wilsey graduated from the University of Miami School of Medicine and completed his residency training in Pediatrics and fellowship training in Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition at Texas Children's Hospital and the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.

A leader in his field, Dr. Wilsey has authored over 100 publications and serves as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition. He is a reviewer for several medical journals and has been nominated numerous times for awards in teaching excellence. Additionally, he is the Past-President of the Hillsborough County Pediatric Society, the former Florida Region 5 Representative for the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), and the former Associate Residency Director for the USF pediatric residency training program.

Dr. Mularoni is a Pediatrician who splits his clinical time between Pediatric Emergency Medicine and Pediatric Sports Medicine. He is board certified in Pediatrics, Pediatric Emergency Medicine and Sports Medicine. Dr. Mularoni is the Medical Director of Ambulatory Operations including 23 outpatient care sites and is the Medical Director and Team Physician at IMG Academy.

Dr. Mularoni completed his Pediatric Residency at St. John Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit, Michigan. His first Fellowship was in Pediatric Emergency Medicine through Emory University in Atlanta. Dr. Mularoni has been practicing Pediatric Emergency Medicine at All Children’s Hospital Johns Hopkins Medicine since 2007. He completed his second fellowship in Primary Care Sports Medicine through Bayfront Health in 2014. He is the founder and medical director of the Primary Care Sports Medicine division at All Children’s Hospital Johns Hopkins Medicine.

Dr. Mularoni leads a concussion research lab that is grant funded by the Kart for Kids Concussion Initiative. His research interests include predictors of concussion and its resolution, wearable technology and its use in concussion management and concussion in motorsports athletes. Dr. Mularoni lectures locally and internationally on Pediatric Emergency and Sports related topics and is a regular contributor to local and national media organizations providing education on Pediatric Sports Medicine and Emergency Medicine topics.

Dr. Mularoni lives in St. Petersburg, Florida with his wife Kim who is also a pediatrician and their three children. During free time he enjoys travel, watching Michigan State sports, skiing, weight training and competing in running events.

**Your Pre-Cruise Miami Itinerary**

Upon arriving at Miami International Airport (MIA) or Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL), a rideshare or taxi can have you settled into your hotel in South Beach, Brickell, or Downtown in under 30 minutes. Coco Cay, Bahamas

Coco Cay is a private destination engineered specifically for leisure rather than cultural immersion. While it lacks the authenticity of a historic Bahamian settlement, it excels at providing a frictionless, high-quality beach day. The island is zoned by energy level: the Thrill Waterpark features high-adrenaline slides and wave pools, while the massive Oasis Lagoon offers a lively resort-pool atmosphere.

For a more sophisticated experience away from the high-energy crowds, the Coco Beach Club is the standout option. A critical note regarding Mayan history: While the famous mainland sites of Tulum and Coba are spectacular, visiting them requires a 45-minute ferry to Playa del Carmen followed by a bus ride. This logistical commitment consumes your entire day and introduces transit stress. Unless these specific sites are non-negotiable, we advise remaining on the island. You can visit the smaller, on-island ruins of San Gervasio to satisfy historical curiosity without the risk of missing the ship.

The port facility itself is a clean, self-contained tourism village featuring pools and duty-free shopping—convenient, but essentially a manufactured environment. To engage with the authentic Yucatán, we strongly advise venturing beyond the port gates.

A short taxi or shuttle ride leads to Mahahual, a neighboring fishing village that offers a genuine slice of coastal Mexican life. Here, a pedestrian malecón runs parallel to the water, lined with unpretentious beach clubs and local eateries serving fresh seafood. It provides a relaxed, low-stress beach day far superior to the crowded pool decks back at the ship.

Culturally, Costa Maya is the strategic access point for the Chacchoben Mayan ruins. Unlike the arduous travel required for Chichén Itzá, Chacchoben is accessible via a moderate drive, offering a fascinating, less-crowded introduction to ancient architecture set within a jungle teeming with wildlife. Alternatively, nature enthusiasts should consider the journey to Lake Bacalar. Known as the "Lagoon of Seven Colors," this freshwater marvel offers stunning turquoise waters and a tranquil atmosphere distinct from the ocean coast. Whether you choose the history of the ruins, the local flavor of Mahahual, or the natural beauty of Bacalar, the true value of this stop is found outside the immediate port complex.

Roatan, Honduras

Roatan distinguishes itself from generic Caribbean stops through one specific geological advantage: the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef hugs the shoreline here. This is not a destination where you need a long boat ride to see marine life; world-class snorkeling often requires nothing more than wading in from the beach. For divers and snorkelers, this is arguably the premier stop in the Western Caribbean, offering high-visibility access to vibrant coral gardens.

Beyond the reef, the island offers two distinct experiences.
