PROGRAM PURPOSE
Implant dentistry is a multibillion-dollar worldwide industry, and although it has improved the lives of many people, the combination of poorly executed implant procedures, lack of adequate implant maintenance, and a lack of adequate knowledge and skill by professionals, the sheer number implant failures due to peri-implantits has sky-rocketed. Instead of helping patients and improving their lives, we are now seeing the damage to the alveolar bone and the emotional stress that the assault of implant failure can cause. The implications of increasing implant failure have far-reaching effects on our patients and our profession.
The attendee will gain an understanding of the following:
The prevalence of peri-implant disease
The etiology of implant failures
The prevention of implant failures
The systemic and local factors that contribute to peri-implant disease
The current treatment protocols that are available to treat implant disease
The amount of bone volume needed for predictable long-term implant success
How much keratinized tissue is for predictable long-term success
How to create enough bone both horizontally and vertically for implant success
How to diagnose and treat progressive recession
How to present complex implant and restorative cases in a comprehensive yet straightforward and understandable format
Prosthodontic Principles for Implant Dentistry
Discuss the diagnostic criteria for dental rehabilitation
Describe treatment planning and treatment sequencing of dental rehabilitation
Identify the difference between protective and destructive occlusal schemes
Considerations in the full-arch, fixed, implant restoration.
Describe treatment planning and case selection for full-arch implant treatment
Discuss treatment sequencing full-arch cases
How to avoid failures in implant-assisted removable prosthodontics.
Discuss prosthodontic concepts in implant-assisted removable prostheses
Describe the use of independent retentive implant attachments as well as bar/overdenture use
Implant complications and failure, diagnosis, prevention and treatment modalities
Hard and soft tissue ridge augmentation
Platelet Rich Fibrin, its use in implant and periodontal therapy
Progressive gingival recession, recognition, documentation and treatment
The art of case presentation

PORTS OF CALL
Ft. Lauderdale, Florida - There is an abundance of things to see and do in the Ft. Lauderdale area: visit the newly redesigned Ft. Lauderdale Beach and cafes, stroll the historic Riverwalk, shop the luxurious stores on Las Olas Boulevard or adventure to the Everglades for an intriguing air boat excursion.
At Sea - Cruising - Cruising
Amber Cove, Dominican Republic - Amber Cove, the Caribbean's newest cruise port is located on the Bay of Maimon near Puerto Plata on the Dominican Republic's North Coast. Amber Cove is designed in three architectural styles - Victorian, Colonial, and Fortaleza. The complex boasts a fort-like structure at its entrance, cobblestoned plazas, retail and food and beverage buildings, and surrounding ocean and mountain views. For your shopping pleasure, expect a combination of big-name retailers like Diamonds International, Effy, and Harley Davidson; local specialties such as rum, coffee, chocolate, amber, and Larimar; as well as a marketplace for local artisans and producers.
San Juan, Puerto Rico - The vibrant capital of Puerto Rico, San Juan offers something for every traveler — world-famous beaches with crystal clear waters, incredible cuisine, rugged natural beauty and a rich history that goes back 500 years. With its ancient fortresses and colorful colonial-era buildings, San Juan makes it easy to feel as though you’ve slipped into the past. Life moves at a slower pace along the sunny cobblestone streets of Old San Juan, and salsa beats seem to waft perpetually from open windows. If you’re craving a hike, head to El Yunque National Forest. And if you’re more in the mood to unwind, set your sights on the beautiful shores of Isla Verde or El Condado. Mealtime is also an adventure, with so many delicious options to try — from mofongo and pastelon to chillo frito and alcapurrias. Pair every bite with a piña colada — Puerto Rico’s national drink.
St. Thomas, U.S. V.I. - Arguably the island with the best shopping and the best beaches. Shop duty-free Charlotte Amalie 'til you drop. Or dive into the beach scene at beautiful Magens Bay, Coki Point, or Turtle Cove, nesting ground of the endangered hawksbill sea turtle.
Half Moon Cay, Bahamas - All Bahama Islands are full of tropical wonders and sun-kissed beaches. But Half Moon Cay, Holland America Line’s private island in the Bahamas is an absolute stunner. When you feel the sugar-white sand on your toes or see its brilliant blue lagoon, you’ll understand why cruise travelers love Half Moon Cay. True bucket-list excursions, secluded cabanas, and stunning beaches make it ideal for any type of vacation.
