Robin K. Blitz, MD, FAAP is a board-certified developmental pediatrician and Chief of the Division of Developmental Pediatrics at the Barrow Neurological Institute at Phoenix Childrens Hospital (PCH). Dr. Blitz earned her medical degree from The Ohio State University, completed her pediatric residency at Childrens National Medical Center, in Washington, DC, and her fellowship in Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics at the University of Maryland. Dr. Blitz is a fellow of the AAP and a member of the SDBP, Zero-To-Three, Down Syndrome Medical Interest Group, and the National Fragile X Clinical and Research Consortium. She is a Clinical Associate Professor in Pediatrics at the University of Arizona College of Medicine.

She was a governor appointee to the State School Readiness Board and Arizona Early Intervention Programs advisory board. She was a state consultant for Arizonas Newborn Follow-up Program and currently is appointed to the Governors Advisory Council for Autism.

Dr. Blitzs grants have established many programs, including: Developmental Center for Foster and Adopted Children, Health passport program for foster children, Developmental Clinic at the Phoenix Indian Medical Center, program to improve and expand resident and community physician education in the area of child development and behavior, a program to expand developmental and autism screening at PCH and in the community, and currently, a hospital-wide education program on Autism awareness and sensitivity and a state-wide program, Early Access to Care-AZ training and development of regional assessment teams to provider earlier diagnosis, intervention and medical home care to children with autism.

Awards include the Betty Kerr Volunteer of the Year Award from Mesa United Way for participation in their Call to Action campaign on behalf of young childrens development and YWCA Tribute to Women Award in Science and Research. She has provided trainings to Arizona pediatricians in developmental and autism screening and early brain and child development.

Dr. Blitz enjoys teaching residents and medical students in the area of developmental-behavioral pediatrics. As part of the curriculum, Dr. Blitz created the website: www.phoenixchildrens.org/dbpeds

Dr. Blitzs clinical interests include the special needs of foster and adopted children, in-utero alcohol and drug exposure, ADHD, Autism, Fragile X Syndrome, Down Syndrome, learning disabilities, the care of premature infants, children with multiple developmental disabilities, and family support services.
