Dr. Katherine Redmond, DO is a board-certified pediatrician and sports medicine physician serving as the Medical Director of SOMC Sports Motion at Southern Ohio Medical Center. She also holds a faculty appointment as Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor at the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Dr. Redmond completed her pediatric residency and sports medicine fellowship at Marshall University School of Medicine, where she cultivated a dual passion for adolescent athlete health and rural community wellness. Her clinical interests include overuse injuries, concussion management, relative energy deficiency in sport (RED-S), and injury prevention in young athletes.
An active sideline and team physician for more than a dozen schools across southern Ohio and northeastern Kentucky, Dr. Redmond combines evidence-based medicine with real-world athletic experience to bridge the gap between pediatric and sports performance care. She is a frequent invited speaker at state and national meetings, including the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine and AAP Sports Medicine sections, and has published on cannabis intoxication in athletes and HPV vaccination accessibility in Appalachia.
With a reputation for engaging, practical, and high-energy presentations, Dr. Redmond brings a unique perspective as both a pediatrician and sports medicine physician dedicated to helping young athletes play safely, recover fully, and thrive.
